Ankur Sangal launches Aerion Legal – a Specialst IP law firm

Ankur Sangal has launched Aerion Legal, a specialist intellectual property law firm, as its Managing Partner, with the firm expected to begin operations shortly.

Sangal spent nearly 16 years at Khaitan & Co, where he was an Equity Partner and contributed to building the firm’s intellectual property practice. In that role, he advised and represented Indian and multinational corporations on complex IP disputes and strategic advisory mandates.

The new firm has been founded alongside a team of senior IP professionals who worked with Sangal at Khaitan & Co, and is expected to commence with a team of close to 30 professionals. Aerion Legal will be headquartered in New Delhi, with planned expansions to Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai in the coming months. The firm is structured as a full-service specialist IP practice covering both contentious and non-contentious matters, operating under a partner-led model intended to give clients direct access to experienced practitioners across trademarks, copyrights, patents, advertising, music and IP arbitration.
