Advocate Sanjay Basu, a Partner at AQUILAW, and industrialist Anurag Choudhary have acquired the Bengali newspaper ‘Ei Samay’ from the Times of India Group through a slump sale of the business.
AQUILAW advised the acquirers, with the team comprising Partner Suhana Islam Murshedd, Principal Associate Subhashree Pani, and Associates Milind Anand, Anwesha S Mukherjee, and Namasvi Karia.
Trilegal advised Bennett Coleman and Company Limited and Times Internet Limited on this transaction.
Sanjay Basu has over 25 years of experience in civil litigation, arbitration, and criminal law. He is also the Senior Standing Counsel for the State of West Bengal in the Supreme Court of India.
