Accomplice

June 3, 2024

n. A person who assists in the commission of a crime and, unlike a mere accessory, is typically present or directly aids in the crime. For example, holding a gun on a bank guard while the vault is being looted, or restraining a victim during an assault and battery. Unlike an accessory, who may claim to be a subordinate figure, an accomplice may face the same charges and punishment as the principal criminal.
