June 3, 2024

n. the illegal act of taking someone away, typically through persuasion (convincing someone, often a minor or a woman, that they would be better off going with the abductor), deception (claiming the person is needed or that a parent wants them to go with the abductor), or by using force or violence. Kidnapping is more specifically defined and usually involves the use of force or threats against an adult, or the taking of children.
