Kidnapping is when someone is taken away against their will using force, threats, or deception. Usually, it’s done to demand money (ransom) or for political or other reasons. In the Indian Penal Code, kidnapping is divided into two types according to Section 359:
- Kidnapping from India
- Kidnapping from lawful guardianship
These categories are further defined in Sections 360 and 361 of the Indian Penal Code.
